Balenciaga opened his first boutique in San Sebastian, Spain with others quickly following in Madrid and Barcelona. The Spanish royal family and the aristocracy even wore his designs. He was gaining a lot of popularity in the fashion world and customers were willing to risk it all to travel to Europe during World War 2 just to see his clothing.
