The eccentric and iconic Lee Bowery was the originator of the morphsuit. As a young Australian boy from Sunshine Victoria he studied music, played piano, and went on to study fashion and design at RMIT for a year. He moved to London in 1980 and became a regular fixture in the flamboyant swinging London Club scene. His outfits always caused quite a stir.
Now a new Italian stylist and photographer duo is making quite the stir on ‘Checking Invoices’ Instagram with their Lee Bowery inspired ‘morhpsuits’.
Lee Bowery was a club promoter, and created London’s infamous club called Taboo, which began as an underground party, and then opened as a club in 1985. Taboo soon became “the place to be” with long queues for those waiting to get in.
