Andreja Pejic makes history as she becomes the first transgender model to work with Bonds in a lingerie campaign.
The campaign, titled “Intimately”, is a collaboration with a diverse cast that includes Victoria’s Secret model Maia Cotton, Madeline Hunt and diversity advocate Shanaya Peters.
Andreja, who shared that the first bra she ever tried on was a Bonds bra, never thought she would be asked to feature in a campaign like this. After moving to the US after being told she wouldn’t find work in the Australian fashion industry, she told news.com.au, “I am ‘Bonds girl’, it’s insane — it’s not that I grew up thinking I could ever be one”. She went on to state, “I have proved myself beyond just being a ‘label’ and it’s nice to finally be recognised for my work.”
She’s worked with some of the world’s biggest brands, from Marc Jacobs to Paul Jean Gaultier and has featured as a cover girl on global editions of Harper’s Bazaar, GQ and Elle. In 2018, she joined the likes of Brooke Shields and Naomi Campbell as a model for Fords Models New York.
Bonds marketing manager, Emily Small, said the campaign encapsulates Bonds’ ethos that “Bonds is for every Australian woman. Taking a strong and feminine stance on Intimates, All The Feels celebrates the real, raw, upfront beauty of the modern woman,” she said. “We think it’s important to challenge what we see in the media with a more authentic reflection of beauty and hope to grow people’s visual vocabulary.”
Pejic described the campaign as being “for my generation who want something they can wear to work and then make out with someone later,” stating that the pieces are “sexy but still comfortable”.
The “Intimately” Collection will be available in-store and online from March 6.
