The 2019 St. George NextGen Winners for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

IMG announced the four designers, selected by St. George NextGen program, who will be presenting at Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week Australia.

The St. George NextGen program supports and mentors emerging Australian fashion designers. During this opportunity, they gain exposure and reach a global audience. The winning designers have the chance to debut their collections to an audience of media and buyers at MBFWA.

We introduce you to the 2019 winners who will be participating in the St. George NextGen program at MBFWA 2019. We’re in for a treat with these upcoming collections.

Benjamin Garg | VIC

Garg is from Punjab, India and his fashion practice represents his interests in traditional Indian textiles, especially the ones from his home state and Rajasthan.

He believes in clothing as a joyous expression, with a connection with Indian artistic movements, such as dance and music. This is represented in his exclusive approach to colour, layering and silhouette.

Chloe Mottau | NSW

She describes her brand as static, playful and Dada, with a technique that expresses contradiction. With a colourful playfulness to her style, she always tries to keep her collection as natural as possible.

The UTS graduate student, with a unique dedication for colour and texture, aims for her collection to attract eco-conscious, nostalgic, but radical, textile orientated people.

Madison Hislop | NSW

A storyteller designer who searches for the value of each clothing, based on the stories that they contain.

“I am not afraid of falling in love, of all the pain and passion that comes along with it. My designs evolve from these experiences of emotional outbursts as I interpret these through texture, colour, and shape”, quotes Hislop on her website.

Her brand contains knitwear and softly tailored suiting for women who are sensitive and strong.

Brian Huynh | VIC

Huynh decided to start his own brand, MNDATORY label, specialising in men’s outerwear and tailoring. His inspirations come from the design philosophies of the architect Louis Kahn, and his aim is to build a wardrobe with fundamentals of a transformative design approach.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia will take place at Carriageworks in Sydney from 12-18 May 2019, with the St.George NextGen showcase scheduled for Thursday 16 May.
