Announced by Instagram post, Tyler linked his seven-million-plus followers to his brand’s 7-minute video lookbook on YouTube. Directed by Tyler himself under the pseudonym ‘Wolf Haley’, the idyllic split-screen lookbook video presents his collection of summer staples, full of colour, prints and patterns. Supported by a backdrop of lavish greenery and pink flamingos, the film uses the white, wooden jetty as an improvised runway to showcase the range on a diverse cast of models.

Although Tyler fuses street style with preppy attire, the label upholds its skate wear roots. Namely, the collection includes a variety of colourful graphics, vibrant prints, relaxed pants, casual sweaters, and the occasional fuzzy cardigan in typical Tyler fashion. Nevertheless, the collection signifies the brand’s evolution from graphic tees to classic, tailored apparel. The video lookbook displays an array of pastels and utility vests, both proving to be major trends in menswear at Paris Fashion Week.

Standout pieces from the collection include the reversible quilted nylon bomber jacket, the orange polo shirt with a lime green leopard print collar and detail on the back, and the straight-leg brown pant with the ‘GOLF le FLEUR*’ detail down the side. Notably, Tyler incorporates Leonardo Bianco’s artwork from Bianco DiNapoli Organic Tomatoes labels for his silk-patterned casual shirts. The range also features a pastel yellow utility vest, with cream, orange and pink pockets on the its front, with the collections name printed in white on the back pocket.

The artist raises speculation again regarding a collaboration between GOLF WANG and Lacoste as he is shown wearing a green and white varsity jacket which sports Lacoste’s signature crocodile logo. While Tyler has teased a Lacoste collaboration multiple times, the first instance dating back to June via Instagram, further details are yet to be released. In addition to this, the possibility of a collaboration with Dr. Martens is exciting fans by the presence of a pink pair of low-cut docs in the video lookbook.

Not only is this range set to define street style of the summer, but it yet again proves that Tyler’s creative expertise spans more than just creating incredible, history-making music.

The collection will be available on the GOLF WANG website as of 7 July at 12am AEST.
