It’s October, and as expected streaming giants such as Netflix, Hulu, and Stan transform their services to serve spooky, ghostly, pumpkin filled flicks right before they make a quick change to mistletoe, white frosted snow and a whole lot of jingle bells.

One film in particular has caught our eye is a psychological thriller from BAFTA-winning writer and director, Babak Anvari, titled ‘Wounds’.

The film stars Armie Hammer, Dakota Johnson, and Zazie Beetz, based on the novella ‘The Visible Filth’ by Nathan Ballingrud.

Without giving away too much, the film centres around a bartender (Hammer) and his girlfriend (Johnson), who become haunted by a mobile phone that is left at the bar following a massive brawl.

I know what you’re thinking, but this isn’t just another horror movie geared at scary people into hating technology. Just one watch of the trailer and you’ll be left wondering what on earth is so disturbing on that phone that has got the protagonists so spooked.

Take a look at the trailer below.

Wounds made it’s debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January this year, and is set to air on Netflix and Hulu October 18th.
