The Major Easter Egg From Taylor Swift’s New Single

It’s like our Christmas prayers have been answered, and none other than Ms. Santa Claus herself, Taylor Swift has gifted us with her new Christmas single Christmas Tree Farm. But of course, in true Taylor fashion, the video is filled with Easter Eggs.

Yes, it’s true, our wholesome Queen of Country and Pop music has blessed us with her first Christmas song since her 2007 Sounds of the Season EP. The EP featured her baby-faced rendition of  Last Christmas, Silent Night, White Christmas and Santa Baby with two original songs Christmases When You Were Mine (my personal favourite) and Christmas Must Be Something More.

Swift actually grew up on a Christmas Tree Farm (and she hasn’t let us forget it), so this song is inspired by her childhood:

The song’s film clip features really sweet home videos of Taylor and her family at their Christmas Tree Farm, with baby Taylor and her little brother Austin playing in the snow with their parents Andrea and Scott Swift.

Despite being a wholesome music video echoing the excitement of the holidays, fans are speculating that Taylor has hinted at a possible release date for a possible new album (it has been dubbed TS8). The threat of a new album looming started to circulate when she changed her profile picture (which she only does to promote new music) to a photo from her Vogue shoot for next year’s January edition.

Fans then noticed that her captions were populated with possible lyrics, which she has done to tease her singles Look What You Made Me Do, …ready for it? and Me!

One day later, Swift shared this very sweet, cat-studded video announcing the single Christmas Tree Farm:

Then, an inconspicuous home video in the film clip featured a date: November 23, 1989.

Fans have noticed that this video is before Taylor was born (December 13, 1989). Swift never does anything without a hidden agenda, everybody knows this. It is believed that the date is a possible day for the release of a new album, TS8. So, the real question is: when is TS8 coming, and will it be announced soon?

The reason this theory seems strange is because Swift released an album this year already, Lover, and she is renowned for two year album turn arounds. Despite being critically acclaimed and selling the most albums in its first week release since her own album Reputation, it has been her worst selling album since 2010, and the only album she’s released this decade to not hit the 1 million mark in its first week.

Lover was not loved by the Grammys either, and she did not have a single this year reach the coveted number 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100. As far as Swift’s career goes, this is her least successful album since she won Album of the Year for her second album Fearless.

Swift has confessed to being hard on herself, and a “perfectionist.” When she didn’t win Album of the Year for Red, she wrote the most rewarded pop album in history 1989. It is likely that the same thing has happened with Lover, which has not achieved nearly the amount of success she is used to.

Will a new Taylor album be announced soon, with a release date of November 23? We’re yet to find out, but we know for certain that the universe is always ready for more Taylor Swift, and we’ll be here, ready to welcome her with open arms.
