In an unprecedented move, U.S. plaintiffs have filed a $20 trillion lawsuit against China, claiming the outbreak of COVID-19 is the result of a biological weapon created by the Chinese authorities.
With every major epidemic, disaster or attack, there are always groups of people that share or create conspiracy theories, trying to explain or place blame for these occurrences. The case of COVID-19 is no different. Some conspiracy theorists claim that coronavirus was predicted in a novel from 1981 titled The Eyes of Darkness by Dean Koontz. The theory references a chapter in the book, which states:
“Wuhan-400’ which was developed at the RDNA lab outside the city of Wuhan, and ‘ it was the four-hundredth viable strain of man-made microorganisms created at that research centre”
You might think this is only normal as the internet is full of wild conspiracy theories and outspoken theorists. However, it is unprecedented that a lawsuit, especially to the tune of $20 trillion (more than the total GDP of China) is built on the basis of a conspiracy theory.
It should be known that the use and manufacturing of biological weapons have been outlawed since 1925. Both the (BTWC) Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention and the (CWC) Chemical Weapons Convention, prohibit the manufacturing, stockpiling, and use of chemical weapons.
Creator of the Bioweapons Act, Dr. Francis Boyle, said in an interview that “coronavirus is biological warfare weapon…It’s also been reported that Chinese scientists stole coronavirus materials from the Canadian lab at Winnipeg” he said. Dr. Francis Boyle continued to say,
“The coronavirus that we’re dealing with here is an offensive biological warfare weapon that leaped out of Wuhan BSL-4 … I’m not saying it was done deliberately, but there had been previous reports of problems with that lab and things leaking out of it.”
American lawyer Larry Klayman and his advocacy group Freedom Watch, accompanied by Texas company Buzz Photos, have filed a $20 trillion lawsuit against the Chinese government on the grounds that China breached both these international treaties by creating and using COVID-19 as a biological weapon.
Their evidence for this is that there just happens to be a biosafety level-four (BSL-4) laboratory situated in Wuhan, China, the city where the whole outbreak started. The Wuhan Institute of Virology had in the past housed some types of coronaviruses among other pathogens.
They have also linked reports that a group of Chinese scientists in Canada were stripped of their access to Canada’s National Microbiology Lab (NML) after being accused of spying. The (NML) is known to work on some of the deadliest pathogens.
Another unprecedented counter-conspiracy theory is China’s claim that COVID-19 was U.S. built, and the virus released deliberately in China. A report claims that “the disease might have been introduced by members of the United States Army who visited Wuhan in October”.
The plaintiffs and Mr Klayman also alleged that Chinese doctors such as Dr. Li Wenliang and others who “raised the alarm to the outside world” about coronavirus have been “silenced”.
American lawyer Larry Klayman along with the plaintiffs asked for a jury trial against the Chinese defendants.
