We’re all navigating this new world, which is weird and often glitch. Instead of going out for drinks, we have begun to socialise digitally. we’re on Zoom calls having online parties and playing drinking games.

You’ve probably drunk all the wine you could possibly think of. Possibly all the whiskey and bourbon too. But why not add some sophistication to your next zoom drinking session or even your drinking session. So, instead of reaching for the whisky or wine, why not make a cocktail? And I’m not talking about just any cocktail, I’m talking about one that is worthy of a celebrity.

Thankfully, the internet has been an amazing escape during this time. And we have been blessing with videos, memes and tones of Netflix shows to binge. But the internet has also blessed the world with a fair bit of celebrity content lately too.

You’re probably thinking which celebrities could make the best cocktails. Well, its quite easy, The cosmopolitan queen and celebrity chef Ina Garten and the suave very sexy Stanley Tucci can.

Garten’s drink of choice during isolation is the sophisticated cosmopolitan. You’ll need top-shelf vodka, Cointreau (or any orange liqueur), cranberry juice, limes and ice, plus a jug, novelty-sized cocktail shaker (with strainer) and an extra-large martini glass.

2 cups vodka
1 cup Cointreau
1 cup cranberry juice
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime

Pour vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice and lime into a jug. Stir.
Half fill the shaker with ice and add in the cocktail mix. Depending on the size of your shaker, you may have to do this in batches.
Shake for 30 seconds.
Pour into a martini glass.

After making this Giant Cosmopolitan Garten uttered these wise words:

“it’s always cocktail hour in a crisis … During a crisis, you know, cocktail hour can be almost any hour.” So, bottoms up.

While most negronis are on the rocks, with equal parts gin, sweet vermouth and Campari. Stanley’s twist is intriguing as he shakes the negroni with his incredibly sculpted biceps. To make what Tucci calls a Negroni Up, you’ll need gin, sweet vermouth, Campari, an orange, and ice, plus a cocktail shaker and a strainer and of course a glass.

2 shots gin
1 shot sweet vermouth
1 shot Campari
1 orange slice

Half fill the shaker with ice and add gin, sweet vermouth and Campari.
Shake it up, as Tucci does so well.
Pour into a coupe, martini glass, or whatever you want.
Garnish with an orange slice.

“We’re gonna make it a Negroni up … Mostly, people have Negronis on the rocks … But I think, actually, they’re quite nice up and the final verdict? “That’s good,” Tucci said after taking a sip.

Now that you know how to make cocktails worthy of celebrities, you can now show off at your next zoom party and impress your zoom drinking buddies. So, next time you’re stuck wondering what to drink just think “what would Ina Garten and Stanley Tucci drink?”
