Take A Look At This Pandemic-Proof Futuresuit Making Raves A Reality Again

Every raver in isolation worldwide right now is dreaming of the days where you could stand shoulder-to-shoulder in a dark confined space for the collective appreciation of music and all-around good vibes.

Unfortunately, it’s going to be a while until we can safely hit the clubs, pubs, bars, and raves together, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get our hands on some great outfits for when that time does come.

Los Angeles based Production Club is typically known to produce interactive installations for the tech, gaming, and music worlds. They’ve worked with artists such as Skrillex, SOPHIE, and Grimes. In the midst of isolation, they’ve taken the time to create and unveil a pandemic-proof raving outfit that’s every bit as futuristic as it sounds.

“We’re seeing our industry dying, and it’s screaming for help,” says head of invention Miguel Risueño. “There are so many better-suited companies right now making things to assist healthcare, so we felt our skills could be used to help elsewhere. There aren’t going to be any concerts for like a year, so we decided to try and create something to facilitate safe events somehow.”

The half colourful suit is called the ‘Micrashell’, and is an air-tight top suit and helmet made of high-performance, cut-resistant fabric developed for durability, endurance, and disinfecting. The features of the suit include phone integration, beverage and vape consumption, voice communication, a subwoofer sound system, a video camera, fashion accessories, a breathable helmet with unobscured views, and two lithium-ion cell battery systems for uninterrupted active operation and easy charge and swap when discharged.

Otherwise known as everything a good raving outfit should have.

While the Micrashell sounds like it came straight out of a Futurama episode, the company is clear about its humble intentions: to allow people to party safely without social distancing, and without going overboard with the gadgets.

“The principle designing the suit was, knowing this is a time-sensitive matter, let’s not pack it with sci-fi features that don’t yet exist and will be roadblocks, but [let’s] use technologies that are available to us, if we don’t do that, we’re just navel-gazing instead of actually trying to solve a problem,” said Risueño.
