There is a lot of changes for brides and grooms in the coronavirus pandemic. From a grand wedding by the sea or an outdoor cocktail party; all the ideas of celebrating nuptials have simply been turned on their head. Instead they’ve been replaced with thoughts of reduced headcount, simpler functions and pared-down festivities. While donning a facemask on your big day definitely puts a weird twist on the tradition wedding rhyme, the addition of it brings the relief of safety for the couple and their guests.

Obviously, the typical surgical mask is for safety and protection, and it is now mandatory in some countries. However, we’re not talking about a regular looking medical mask, we’re talking about one designed to match the bride’s attire. The aesthetic colours and prints will add a little charm to the wedding outfit.

The good news is, it is indeed possible to keep everyone safe while still look 100% stunning. Some masks are created with the extra fabric from the wedding dress, others may have a new embroidery and added traditional bits for personalisation.

Be the ‘Cool Bride’

Bridal accessories usually include a gorgeous veil, shoes and jewellery. But given the current state if the world and the threat of a global pandemic, we’re thinking we can all recognise how a bridal mask can be an extra that brings quality, detail and elegance to a bride’s outfit.

Riva Kalasho, owner of Lace Boutique in the US, turns the medical necessity into a fun opportunity as a wedding accessory. The base of the mask is made from soft cotton that is usually used in baby clothing, and brides can tailor their masks with different details.

“We have different lace fabric, different floral fabrics and then Swarovski crystals can be added,” Riva told the Oakland Press.
