Fans are loving Australian singer-songwriter Troye Sivan’s new single “Easy”.
Released on July 15, the single offers a taste of his new EP titled In a Dream, available on August 21. In A Dream will feature six new songs and be Sivan’s first since his 2018 album Bloom.
In a statement with Rolling Stone, Perth-raised Sivan described the upcoming EP as:
“A story that’s still unfolding, [where] this small collection of songs explores an emotional rollercoaster in my life when the feelings and thoughts were most shockingly fresh. Revisiting these songs and moments is tough, but I’m proud of this music and excited to have it out in the world.”
“Easy” addresses heartbreak and a broken relationship where he is begging his lover to stay. In a self-directed music video, Sivan is seen alone mostly throughout the video, with the only company seemingly a white rabbit. Wondering through various rooms, staring at a mirror and self-reflecting, and dancing, Sivan is also seen lit on fire before he plummets under water. The singer also channels his inner David Bowie alongside the Beastie Girls, showing off a red mullet and wearing a brown vintage Gucci suit.
His first single of 2020, Take Yourself Home was released earlier this year in April. During the promotions, he had also used his platform to support freelance artists who had been affected by COVID-19. In collaboration with Instagram artists Lanning Sally and Jack Taylor Lovatt, Sivan created exclusive T-shirts. All proceeds were donated to the WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and Spotify’s COVID-19 Music Relief project.
