Colour Theory: What The Colour You Wear Says About You

Colours influence our everyday emotion and mood. You would know what colour can make you feel secure or make you feel blue. When you choose to use or avoid a colour, this little action can reveal a lot about your personality.

When I get ready in the morning, I might just reach my wardrobe half-asleep and pick whatever I can wear. Choosing a certain colour to wear is not really the first thing that comes to my mind. I pick for whatever’s close (or clean), and I am ready for the day. However, to be honest, sometimes having an interesting pop of colour is exciting. It is certainly more fascinating than just an outfit pulled together out of convenience.

The colours you choose to wear say something about you to the world, whether you like it or not. Are you introvert? Curious? Confident? What you wear is not an accidental necessity, nor a random circumstance. It is a form of expression that whether you intend to be. You wouldn’t deliberately put thought into sending a message about who you are, but clothes will tell you how you fit into the world.

Red is a colour of love and danger. People wearing red are usually smart, excited and self-centred, but also easily attract others.

Orange associates with a joyful atmosphere. In addition, to be a warm colour, it is also cheerful, creative and attractive. People who like to wear orange are energetic and brave to accept changes.

Yellow calls for attention, it is often used in signage and road signs. So, wearing yellow means you are an adventurer and ready to explore the unknown world.

Green connects with nature, giving people a sense of calm and satisfaction. People who like green are actively participating in public affairs. They are caring and kind.

Blue is often identified as a colour of intelligence, trust and wisdom. People who like blue are kind, compassionate and polite. But sometimes they are shy.

Purple is for people that are emotionally sensitive and imaginative but also having a mysterious mind. Getting along with them can be easy and comfortable.

Black is an indicator of prestige, strength and rigour. So that many graduation gowns are black. Also, black represents a person who is ambitious and emotional, although they may try to hide it.

White symbolises freedom and purity. People who choose white are clean and organized, sometimes striving for perfection.

The colours you wear are important as they can say a lot about who you are. Keep that in mind next time you want to give a good impression, even on your dullest day.
