New Zealand singer-songwriter Benee hasn’t let the wrath of 2020 stop her from producing cracking tunes that seem to be getting better and better as they come.

Benee is the queen of quirky alternative pop tunes that give you the feels, making you want to bounce along to the vivacious energy her music produces. ‘Snail’ is her newest tune and follows her previous single ‘Night Garden’ where she joined forces with UK rapper Bakar and producer Kenny Beats.

The new song was written and recorded with Josh Fountain from the New Zealand pop band Kidz In Space whilst the country was in lockdown.

The track also comes with a lyrical music video created by Goodbye Robot involving all sorts of animated creatures and visuals. Have a watch.

This new song beams with bright and colourful sounds including boppy beats and bubbly electronic notes. With an electro feel this tune is yet another brilliant song by Benee who seems to be an expert at her craft. Mixing indie and pop sounds ‘Snail’ is a fun electrifying tune that is perfect at livening you up on a cold winter’s day.

Benee says her fascination with snails came to her during the Coronavirus lockdown where she had a lot of time to explore both the outdoors and these slimy creatures.

“When we were in lockdown, I was fascinated by snails. There wasn’t really a lot to be doing, so I would spend a lot of time outside looking at snails and would think about how they’re doing their own little thing and they’re all free,” Benee said in a press statement.

“I just played around with the idea of being kind of like a snail and how I come out in the rain. Being stuck inside because of COVID, it’s kind of my lockdown song.”

When we finally reach some normality in the music world in Australia, Benee is set to headline Wollongong’s Yours & Owls Festival alongside artists such as Tones and I, Cosmos Midnight, Hayden James, DMAs, Lime Cordiale, What So Not, and so much more.

Fingers crossed we hear some more sensational tunes from Benee in the near future!
