Hailed as one of the most inclusive brands in fashion, Fenty express their interest in bringing McLaughlin aboard as an ambassador after viewing her viral videos.
U.S. influencer Tamera McLaughlin used social platform Instagram to gain a sizeable 502k following. Now Rihanna’s lingerie label is hiring her as an ambassador.
“I CRIED IMMEDIATELY. Just that fast, it happened.”
This news highlights Rihanna‘s long-time goal to feature bodies which are rarely seen on catwalks. Amongst those unlikely models are cancer survivors, pregnant women and body-diverse male models.
To say that Rihanna has completely challenged the shape and tone of the beauty and fashion industry, is an understatement. This hugely influential star, combined with major backing by LVMH (a multinational corporation specialising in luxury goods), and plenty of incredible fans, have solidified Fenty‘s presence in the world of fashion.
Impossible beauty standards, misrepresentation and stereotypes are a thing of the past within the world of Fenty. Addressing the lack of representation reflected in other brand’s campaigns and product offerings is always the top priority.
“The singer made similar waves with Fenty Beauty, shifting industry expectations when the brand launched with 40 shades of foundation in 2017. The inclusivity seems to be paying off financially, too. While her LVMH-backed Fenty fashion house recently halted operations, her lingerie label reached a $1 billion valuation earlier this month (via Forbes).”
