Clubhouse Shakes Up Social Media

Clubhouse is generating quite a buzz and sparking conversations on social media worldwide. The innovative app is built on being “invite only”. The design allows users to join rooms where they can listen to people converse about interesting topics.

This new digital voice-activated platform is somewhat similar to a podcast. But importantly, Clubhouse limits individuals to the groups they can enter.

At the time of publication, Clubhouse is ranked 5th in the social networking app store category. The app reportingly already hosts 10 million users a week.

The company states  that the exclusive app is

“a new type of social product based on voice [that] allows people everywhere to talk, tell stories, develop ideas, deepen friendships and meet interesting new people around the world.”

Social Media giant Twitter has responded to the new innovation by beginning tests of their own version of rooms.

Clubhouse is only available on the app store, with the possibility of Android accessibility coming in the next few months. The app’s explosive success is due to the high number of celebrities who are currently using the app. Oprah Winfrey, Elon Musk and Bill Gates are some of the high profiles stars who have appeared on the app.

The Clubhouse Concept  revolves around an audio-only app that can grant users the opportunity to listen to panel discussions, network with professionals, or just simply participate and voice their perspectives on societal topics.

The exclusive app is easily accessible and has an effortless process. The process of using Clubhouse begins by an exisiting member inviting a guest to join. Then the invitee will receive a link to sign up, requiring them to enter their details. Users receive series of lists that allow them to engage in conversations.

Additionally, members of the app can be invited by their family, friends, social networking circle or professional group. Following signup, users are presented with a crowded home page that contains several live groups, conversations and scheduled upcoming rooms and clubs.

Listeners can raise their hand and request to talk. The viral app also allows users to create their own club but this is only after its received approval.
