Filming for the new season of Stranger Things resumed on the 28th of September 2020 after initial setbacks. Several of the actors who play established characters were seen on various sets. Locations include character houses and the town’s video store/arcade. The high school and the interdimensional upside-down sets were also seen in images posted to social media accounts related to the show.

Furthermore, new additions to the cast have been spotted on set. These include Jamie Campbell Bower as Peter Ballard and Matthew Modine as Martin Brenner.

While much of the season’s storyline has been kept under wraps, some aspects of the show have been revealed.

Tone

Gaten Matarazzo appeared on the The Tonight Show Starring  in April of 2020. During the conversation, when asked about the season’s scarier tone, the actor stated,

“They’re going for it this year, that’s pretty cool.”

This is consistent with statements the young actor made in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. Uploaded on the 4th of April, the actor has said,

“The tone has definitely matured for sure, and I think they do that on purpose because I think they want their show to mature with their kids. We’re growing older as people, we have to grow older as characters.”

Similarly, Finn Wolfhard who plays Mike Wheeler on the show has stated:

“Every season it gets darker… I will say season three I was like this is the darkest season that will ever be… but really like season 4, it’s the darkest season that’s ever been.”

Aesthetic and Effort

Additionally, David Harbour, who plays Hopper in the series, took to Instagram, live from the Stranger Things set. The video appeared on David Harbour’s verified account on the 8th of April. In the 4-minute video, the actor appears injured, and in costume, describing his exhaustion. Millie Bobby Brown who portrays Eleven on the show also made an appearance providing jovial banter.

Currently, no official release date for the season has been announced. But for those wishing to relive past moments, or those uninitiated to the series, the first three seasons can be viewed on Netflix.
