Ariana Grande to Join ‘The Voice’

Ariana Grande will be taking over from Nick Jonas as a coach on The Voice for its 21st season.

Less than a month after the 20th season premiere of The Voice (USA), NBC confirmed the news. A statement from Jenny Groom, the Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming and Development for NBC said:

“As an undeniable force in pop music, Ariana’s inimitable success in the music industry is extraordinary. We were thrilled to learn that she is a true fan of The Voice and know that this enthusiasm will add to her impact as a dynamic coach. Ariana is a visionary with over a decade of experience in the music industry. Her unmatched vocal skills, creativity and unique expertise on all facets of the industry will make her an invaluable coach to the next generation of artists.”

Achievements

Constantly creating music, many of her compositions have reached gold or platinum status. It’s no surprise that the renowned singer is consistently nominated for her work and collaborations. The talented songwriter has also achieved a number of accolades over the years. In 2013, she received the American Music Award for ‘New Artist of the Year’. Every year subsequent she has received recognition from various organizations. In 2020, she won the People’s Choice Award for both ‘Female Artist of the Year’ and ‘Social Celebrity of the Year’. In addition, the ‘Almost is Never Enough’ singer has won 2 Grammy awards. Most recently, in 2021, she won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance alongside Lady Gaga for their song ‘Rain on Me’.

Ariana Grande will be joining current coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Blake Shelton on the hit reality singing competition.

While promoting the current season, Blake Shelton told People,

“I’m excited about Ariana joining the show because it’s somebody new for me to beat, I’m tired of beating John every season — and Nick…So I’m looking for a challenge. I think Ariana could be a challenge. I’m looking forward to beating her though”

Meanwhile, John Legend acknowledged Ariana Grande’s abilities, and commented on what that could mean for the show,

“Ariana is one of the most gifted artists in our business today. She is a huge, chart-topping artist with amazing vocal skills. I think so many of our fans out there truly love her, and I think she’s going to bring additional fans to the show, a different audience to the show, and I think it’s going to be great for all of us.”
