House of Gucci has finally wrapped shooting the highly anticipated drama depicting the 1995 murder-for-hire of Maurizio Gucci.
On Saturday afternoon, Gaga took to Instagram to announce “That’s a wrap, Rid. #HouseOfGucci,”. Gaga shared an image of her arms outstretched, awarding the films director with a social-distanced fist-bump. Gaga wrapped up the shooting with another iconic look, which sums up the Gucci heiress nicely. Pictured holding a spring bouquet of tulips, she waved goodbye to her Roman fans, visibly tearful wearing an expertly paired outfit of a Sportsmax blazer, Chanel silk scarf and Valentino Rose edition Atelier boots and bag. The American-Italian then took to Twitter to thank fans for their support, stating that:
“I wish to thank all of Italy for cheering me on while I film this movie—I hug & kiss you, tell you I believe in you prayers to my place of origin—a country built on the promise of hard work & family. I hope I made you proud. I’m proud to be Italian. Ti Amo. #HouseOfGucci”
The Infamous Tale
Set to be released in November, House of Gucci revives the infamous story of Maurizio Gucci. Lady Gaga plays Patrizia Reggiani. The film follows the story of the couple’s failed romance, which ended in Reggiani allegedly hiring a hitman to murder Gucci.
Patrizia and Maurizio’s wedding had caused a rift within the Gucci family due to Maurizio’s father, Rodolfo, played by Jeremy Irons in the biopic. It is believed that Rodolfo did not approve of Patrizia. Patrizia was subsequently arrested for the crime and was later dubbed as Vedova Nera or “The Black Widow.” Reggiani was placed on trial and later convicted for the assassination of her ex-husband of 16 years.
On-Location
The production has been filming on-location in Italy’s capital over the last 2 months.

Whilst the film’s fan response has been positive, members of the Gucci family have expressed concern to the Associated Press, publicly stating that they are concerned about the film’s depiction of the family. Despite unrest amongst the Gucci dynasty, the biopic is scheduled for release in November this year.
