The Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars Spin-Off has already finished filming, just six months after filming started.
Despite only being confirmed in August 2020, and production beginning in March, the Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off has already finished filming. Simply titled Obi-Wan Kenobi, the limited series is slated for release on popular streaming service Disney+.
Ewan McGregor is back in the franchise, in spite of his and many fans’ reaction to the idea of another spin-off. On filming the new series, he said,
“We finished shooting our series, and it was really, really good fun — I really enjoyed working with Deborah Chow [the director]. I think it will not disappoint, it’s gonna be good. I had a really good time making it, and worked with some really wonderful people, lovely people”.
Hayden Christensen was also confirmed to make a comeback to the Star Wars franchise, reprising his role as the Jedi-turned-Darth Vader Anakin Skywalker.
The show will take place on Tatooine, the home of the Kenobi family. It focuses on the fallout following Skywalker’s change into Darth Vader and will take place 10 years after “Revenge of the Sith”.
While no release date has been confirmed, fans are awaiting the series’ release in 2022.
