British singer-songwriter Harry Styles is known for his gender-neutral, extravagant approach to fashion. He has single-handedly challenged the traditional mould for a male heartthrob and has done so in style. Now, Styles is expanding his exotic taste with his new beauty brand, “Pleasing”.

The vegan and cruelty-free range has dropped six products so far, including four nail polishes, a dual rollerball lip and eye serum and a facial serum. He joins the ranks of several other male celebrities who have released nail products in recent years, including the likes of A$AP Rocky, Machine Gun Kelly and Lil Yachty.

In a recent interview with Dazed, Styles revealed he wanted the brand to be boundary-less and self-expressive. On Pleasing, he said, “I didn’t want to make products to mask people, I wanted to highlight them and make them feel beautiful.”

The star spoke about his beginnings in band One Direction and how his fame has led him to where he is today.

“I was 16 (when One Direction started), I just kind of finished school and didn’t really know what it was that was happening,” he said. “Everything was really new and exciting and I didn’t know how long everything was gonna last. It kind of became like, ‘Woah, how long can we keep this going?’ because I really didn’t expect any of this to happen.”

He went on to explain his vision for the brand and his ventures outside of the music sphere.

“There was a time when I was younger, and I was in the band, when I would have been afraid for everything to have stopped. I didn’t necessarily know who I was if I wasn’t in the band. Now, the idea of people going, ‘We don’t like your music any more, go away’ doesn’t scare me. I think there was a time when it did. It gives me the freedom to kind of go, ‘Great!’ I’m not working from a place of fear. I’m working from a place of wanting to work stuff out, and try different things.”

The products themselves were inspired by pearls, Styles’ most iconic accessory. While the range remains small, the singer has promised fans that there is much more to come from Pleasing.

“I think we have an opportunity to make something really cool, a company that operates in a completely different way,”

Harry Styles’ ventures from behind the microphone will only reveal more of his creative flair as he shows the world you can still be a business mogul while wearing a feather boa.
