2021: The Year in Fashion

As the year comes to an end, 2021 has left no stone unturned when it comes to fashion trends. Here are the best (or most eye-catching) we have seen so far.

Balenciaga x Crocs

There was a time that a high-fashion brand like Balenciaga would never be in the same sentence as Crocs. But if 2021 has taught us anything, it’s to expect the unexpected. The brands first collaborated in 2018 when they released the platform Croc slipper. However, when we thought we had seen it all, they released the Croc pump at the beginning of this year.

Give it to Balenciaga to make the most functional shoe fashionable, or at least try.

The 90s in 2021

This year has also seen a recycle of the classic 90s trends that we would have rolled our eyes at a decade ago. Low-waisted pants, butterfly hairclips, and slip dresses have all made a comeback and can be seen on style icons.

Dress Like Your Dad

From New Balance sneakers to sweater vests, 2021 fashion has shown that dressing like your dad is in. The stereotypical Dad sense of fashion can be seen on Kendall Jenner as she pairs a collared shirt and sweater vest with a pair of khaki pants.

The former ‘ugly sneakers’ that were reserved for men over 50 are now both on the runway and very much on-trend. Bella Hadid can be seen wearing an oversized blazer paired with chunky white sneakers and high ankle socks.

Thrift Shopping

Many social media influencers (like Emma Chamberlain) have been raving this year about the benefits of thrift shopping. Not only is it better for the environment but it is pivotal in finding unique pieces that no one else has. The circulation of second-hand clothes means that nothing is going to waste and the era of ‘fast fashion’ can end.
