Who guessed that Elton John would branch out into the realm of streetwear? Well, Palace has made it happen. Together with merchandising service Bravado,  Palace gives us a capsule collection that honours the illustrious superstar. It features reimagined versions of some of the singer’s most memorable outfits.

The capsule collection includes velour tracksuits, woven carpets, sweaters, and a skate deck – all of which feature historical photos from Elton John’s life and work.

“The bitch is definitely back,” he declares in a promotional video, admitting that “I never thought I’d see my face on a skateboard.”

Palace has amassed projects with Harrods, Juergen Teller, AMG, and Stella Artois over recent months. Elton John is equally as busy, citing recent projects with Gucci, Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, and Rina Sawayama among other brands and artists.

It may come as a surprise that Palace Skateboards is teaming up with the 74-year-old performer on a capsule collection, paying homage to his infamous clothing. In reality, it makes total sense. Palace founder Lev Tanju has a history of collaborating with musicians and bands. His previous collaborations include the Happy Mondays in 2020 and Whitney Houston (via her estate) in 2021.

Paying Homage

The Elton John x Palace capsule collection includes pieces that pay homage to various stages in John’s career.

There’s a velour tracksuit with a foil Palace Triferg. Aesthetically, it’s similar to the throwback Gucci pieces John is wearing over more recent times. The collection includes some more subdueed T-shirts. One displays graphics of John in his iconic blue and white Dodgers Stadium outfit from 1976. Another looks like genuine EJ tour merchandise, bearing the title of his 1974 smash single “The Bitch Is Back”.

The most eye-catching piece in the collection is a hefty monochrome knit with John’s face stitched on the front. This is one for the diehards.
