The Walking Dead may be amid its final season, but you don’t need to say goodbye to some of the characters from the flagship series just yet. The beloved post-apocalyptic drama series is making a return with Isle of the Dead, coming soon to a screen near you.

Lauren Cohan and Jefferey Dean Morgan will star in Another Series Set in The Walking Dead Universe. Isle of the walking dead is set to premiere in 2023. Before it does, FIB brings you a one-stop-shop for everything you need to watch before Isle of the Dead and where to find it.

Cut off from Mainland

Based on popular comic series, The Walking Dead follows the various survivors of a zombie apocalypse as they search for safety. The series first aired in 2010 and immediately became a fan favourite. Even in its eleventh season, it holds the rank of #1 drama series.

Isle of the Dead is set in New York City the new series will envision a Manhattan “long ago cut off from mainland”, filled with living and dead alike. The first season consists of six episodes released on AMC (American Multinational cable) and AMC+, available in Australia through various streaming platforms. As part of the announcement AMC put out a teaser poster:

Isle of the dead is the fifth spinoff series set in The Walking Dead universe. The first, “Fear the Walking Dead”, first aired in 2015. It follows a different group of survivors who started off in California. It is being renewed for the eighth season. This series can be found on SBS for free, though you may need to create an account with the OnDemand service. Alternatively, its also available on Apple TV, Google Play and YouTube for $2.99. those with Foxtel and Binge subscriptions need not worry as the show is available on the platform.

The World Beyond

The Walking Dead: The World Beyond is a limited series which takes place a decade into the apocalypse. This series focuses on the first generation to come of age in the apocalypse. This series is only available on Amazon Prime included in the subscription, but those who don’t hold an account can apply for a 30-day free trial.

In addition, a new collection series called Tales of The Walking Dead will air this year. Focusing on new and existing characters from the original series. Another rumoured series currently unnamed, will likely follow tales of Carol and Daryl after the show’s finale. It is starring Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, expected to premiere in 2023 along with Isle of the dead.
