A FREE GUCCI EXHIBIT JUST OPENED AT THE POWERHOUSE MUSEUM, SYDNEY

From 17 November 2022, Gucci Garden Archetypes – an immersive, multimedia exhibition – is open to the public at the Powerhouse Ultimo. Supported by the NSW Government and Design Studio Archivio Personale, this exhibition is believed to create a major cultural attraction and also thrive in NSW’s reputation for excellence in arts and culture.

The first exhibition was held in Italy in 2021 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Gucci. The series recreates the iconic campaigns by Creative Director Alessandro Michele. The director says,

“I thought it was interesting to accompany people in these almost eight years of adventure, inviting them to cross the imaginary, the narrative, the unexpected, the glitter”

Bringing the Collections Back to Life

By applying the integration of cutting-edge technology, hand-crafting and interior design, Gucci Garden Archetypes represents the spirit of each collection; while resonating with the biggest contribution of Michele to these campaigns.

The exhibition has been busy travelling across Asia including Shanghai, Taipei, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul. Now, it finally lands in Australia, exclusively at the Powerhouse in Ultimo, Sydney. The Powerhouse is a perfect setting for the collection, with its contemporary intersection of arts, design, science and technology. In terms of this collaboration, Minister for Tourism and Arts Ben Franklin mentions that:

“The NSW Government is proud to support this incredible international exhibition exclusively in Sydney at our iconic Powerhouse Museum…. This confirms NSW as a global cultural hub”

In relation to the contribution of Michele, Lisa Havilah – Powerhouse Chief Executive adds that:

Alessandro Michele never fails to push us forward into diverse, contemporary visual worlds that we have yet to imagine. Powerhouse is thrilled to partner with Gucci to present the exclusive Australian premiere of Gucci Garden Archetypes.

What to Expect

Visitors can access the realistic world-building of Gucci campaigns through the floral paradise of Gucci Bloom, the collection of Pre-Fall and Fall Winter 2018, Spring Summer 2016, etc. Meanwhile, the integration of themed spaces and corridors play a critical role in recreating the included campaigns for visitors.
