BURBERRY FALL 2023 READY-TO-WEAR

London’s St Agnes Place was abuzz as Daniel Lee presented his first collection for the iconic British brand at AW London Fashion Week 2023. Since joining the renowned fashion house in October, Lee seeks to balance Burberry’s rich heritage with injecting fresh energy into the label.

With a total of 55 carefully curated looks, Lee’s inaugural collection for Burberry demonstrated his keen eye for cohesion and attention to detail. Each ensemble seamlessly flowed into the next. From the very first look, it was evident that Lee was determined to make a statement.

Guests were welcomed with trays of hot chocolate, thick blankets and hot water bottles wrapped in Burberry check fabric. It was an intimate and cozy space for all.

Deviating from the classic beige tones often associated with Burberry, Lee embraced bold and vibrant hues in his collection. The runway came alive with experimental shades of Klein blue, vibrant mustards, and primrose reds, injecting a refreshing burst of colour into the brand’s signature check patterns. Many would call the collection distinctly British. Trapper hats, moccasins, wellies, and countless duck paraphernalia all contribute.

The first look was charcoal ensemble, complete with a faux fur collar. Complementing the outfit was a vibrant purple and emerald check hot water bottle, adding a unique touch of colour and pattern. Further elevating the ensemble are the same shade of emerald green in the boots and as a leather shoulder bag.

Lee’s creativity shone through in the incorporation of unexpected elements. Models strutted the runway with whimsical accessories such as hot water bottles, knitted duck hats, and faux fur tail keychains.

The last look featured a dark red oversized puffer jacket with a faux fur collar, layered over a bright blue and pink t-shirt. In addition, a suede leather shoulder bag, adorned with a fur tail keychain completed the ensemble.

Lee’s Vision

Since his successful revival of Bottega Veneta, many are expecting Lee to revitalise Burberry. Unsurprisingly embracing the challenge, Lee aims to create a compelling narrative for the brand’s handbags. Unlike Burberry’s extensive history in trench coats, the label’s handbag heritage is still in its infancy. Evidently, Lee’s excitement reflects his ambition to reimagine and elevate the brand.

Lee’s debut collection for Burberry at AW London Fashion Week 2023 left us all excited for the future of Burberry. Seamlessly blending tradition with innovation, Lee both showcased his creative prowess and breathed new life into the iconic British brand. The fashion world eagerly awaits the next chapter of Burberry’s evolution. Above all, Daniel Lee stands poised to leave an enduring legacy at the prestigious label.
