According to People Magazine three of the main cast: Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert were spotted filming a project together in L.A. decked out in iconic pink outfits.

As yet, no official announcements have been released. Speculation says that the actresses are filming the project for the film’s upcoming 20th anniversary.

As per Vogue,

While details of the project remain elusive, the coincidence with the original film’s 20th anniversary, which falls next year, seems to suggest a potential release date. 2024 will also see the premiere of the Mean Girls Musical, which is set to star the likes of Reneé Rapp and Angourie Rice, and was written by the renowned Tina Fey, who penned the original film, and is said to also be reprising her own role as Ms. Norbury in her Broadway show.

As yet, our main plastic queen Regina George (Rachel McAdams) has not been seen. TMZ reports that the former costars reunited to film a Pepsi commercial; rumoured to be for the upcoming 2024 Super Bowl in February.

Vogue cites that “Whether Fey and other key cast members of the 2004 film will join Lohan and the others in this particular new project is yet to be determined”.

A Long, Mean, Legacy

While it is not certain what these former plastics are filming, there is a slight possibility that this project could be a part of the cult classic film’s 20th anniversary.

There’s plenty to look forward to with rumour of both a Mean Girls Musical and movie. And as well as Tina Fey reprising her role as Ms. Norbury in the musical musical, Tim Meadows (Principal Duvall) is also set to reappear.
There aren’t any other official news about the rest of the cast in musical movie however Seyfried told Entertainment Tonight that she and her former co-stars are into the idea of making a cameo in the new film.
“It’s been a long legacy for Mean Girls, and I think we all kinda just need to hang,” she says.
