Why Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

ACNH gained immense popularity during lockdown. The video game allows players to enter a virtual island and build a life there. Furthermore, players are able to connect through the game’s recent ‘Dream’ feature and across social media. Significantly, ACNH became the second best-selling Nintendo Switch game, selling over five million copies in its first month.

Jonathan Silberman, The Trevor Project’s Senior Designer and Web Lead told Mashable:

ACNH has a very loyal and engaged fanbase. It also serves as a safe and supportive space for young people to curate their world and connect with their friends.”

Players have taken to Twitter to show their support:

The Trevor Project’s ACNH collection aims to raise awareness for suicide prevent best practices. A recent Nielsen study revealed that of all gamers over 18, 10% identify as LGBTQ+. As a result of COVID-19 and increased worldwide isolation, many have lost positive social connections.

The Trevor Project is a non-profit organisation that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ+ youth under 25.

Those wishing to download the clothing collection can do so via the creator code: MA-7248-1702-1536 or by searching the item title in the Custom Design Portal.
